an unemployment rate of 7%. that is the lowest monthly unemployment rate since the december before president obama took office. the economy beating expectations , creating more than 200,000 jobs last month. with september and october payroll numbers also revised higher. the labor force participation rate ticked up for the first time in nearly five years. after hitting a 35 year low in october. and the total number of people out of work including the unemployed and the under employed dropped by more than a million people last month. those job gains and a broad range of industries, including higher paying sectors like manufacturing and construction, which added 27,000 new jobs alone last month. wall street today indicated investors may now be prepared to bid adios to quantitative easing despite lingering fears that the better reserve will quit its easing money policies in. the doubt -- dow jones industrials rose nearly 200 points on the date snapping a 5-day losing streak and now back above 16,000. the s&p snapped its own five day losing streak today, up 20 points, moving back over 1800. and the nas

has helped wall street while main street has continued to suffer. the obama care bill has helped big pharma and insurance companies. and there hasn't been a lot of focus on closing looploopholes. i think this speech, if it does signal the beginning of a new, sustained focus for him, could be hopefully a turning point because we do need as a country moral leadership like the kind that the president could provide to focus on this problem, and it doesn't have to be a zero-sum game between left and right, democrat and republican. i have written a lot about how republicans have been terrible at even talking about the problem of poverty, but there are some voices out there talking about it. and if the president could kind of launch a national project and provide moral leadership for business, for republicans, for democrats, and bring people together, i think that could be a significant legacy of his presidency. >> yeah, and i'd put it a little differently. there's one study that shows lower income americans have benefitted under this administration than any in the last 30 years, largely be

for the enforcement of constitutional rights and a surveillance under bush and obama and the patriot act, warrantless surveillance in the bush administration and things like that. i must say that everything we are talking about today is laughable in my opinion in the context of these problems. i am particularly struck by the overwhelming hypocrisy of the claim that the president in interpreting the law and in refusing to interpret the law in the way that would drive a stake through the law is not enforced. it's amending that he and force the law in the way that the person making the demand is not taking care and must be painfully executed. it's to the president to interpret the law within the boundaries that he has in a way that makes practical implementation of the law to fluctuate the will of the congress and the fact people that want to sabotage the wall and for if no it not to work ane no bones about it save he is not obeying this particular sentence in order to make it work. talk about hypocrisy. let me ask a question. have you made this statement i want to ask mr. lazarus the following question

not only how obama care will eventually be phased in or whether it will be phased in at all, but what i'm interested in as a market guy is we're talking about 1/6 of the economy. whether you're for it or against it or you believe it's going to work or not going to work, in the end it's 1/6 of the economy, we're the world's leading business channel and it's in our wheelhouse. but one thing that seems to be going on today in it can that is not getting a lot of air time that i find rather fascinating is that the house judiciary committee is holding hearings and they're holding hearings on something rather, i don't know, maybe call it esoteric, maybe call it extreme but let's get to the crux of the matter and i'll get there through an analogy. let's say when we saw at the end of last year that the payroll walked out in january and said basically, listen, i'm going to take a swath of those people whose taxes are going to go up on the payroll tax and i'm going to delay that for a year, would that fly? i don't know that it would fly. we have a constitution and checks and balances. but let's ge
